Thefilm'ssymbolofprogressandthenewscientificeraisaspacecraft,travellingthroughtheMilkyWay,makingalltheplanetsandtheirinspiringworldsfamiliartous,withtheextravaganzaoftheirdistinctivefeatures.Thefilm'seducationalintentions,however,becomesteadilymoreobscure,humorous,orevencampyasthispopularizationprojectproceeds.Withtheexcuseofpresentingtheendoftheworldanot-so-newconceptasanew,undeniablyscientifictruth,thefilmveershappilyalonganewpath,displayingdetailedapocalypticscenesoftheendofmankind.Fortoday'saudiences,thisamazingfilmdemonstrateshowtheuniversewascomprehendedinthe1920s,andhowthatviewwassoldtocontemporaryaudiences.
